Saucisson Part Deux

Welcome to my new Follower.

Many Thanks to RachelRadioStar for our lovely tea tonight. She really is a star, although I don't know whether she is a Radio or not? I'm guessing not. Only teasing Rachel!

Before Cooking

The Value sausages were indeed de-skined (is that a word?) and added to minced up and fried off carrots and onions, to be hidden as per Frugal Queen's lessons, and breadcrumbs. I also added some paprika and seasoning and baked in the oven. A lot of fat came out of them, and we will definitely not be buying them again. In fact, I think I might steer clear of the value label on all meat/chicken etc, in future, it's just not proving worth it.
After Cooking

However, by the time I added some passata and spaghetti, they didn't look too bad at all and the important part - all three boys ate them all up with only one comment that the meatballs were a bit wet.

I am really pleased that I didn't just waste them and put them in the bin, which I would normally have done. In fact if we had nicer meat, I might even attempt something like that again! Wow, I know, me actually cooking, well kind of cooking, I did add some spice after all and on my own initiative aswell.

I have tried to do lots of exercise this week, but didn't quite manage a 5k walk yesterday as I developed low back ache on the way round. This time I stuck to the pavements rather than wading through mud, but realised just how unfit I was when I got very out of puff striding up the hill at the top of town. I was rewarded with a spectacular view though across to the moors.

I have also done a couple of sessions on the Wii Fit and worked very hard at Aquafit tonight, so I think I have earned a nice sit down with my Crochet Blanket tonight and perhaps a lovely cup of coffee. I'm trying to cut down as it is not doing my funny heart beat any good, but I just love the stuff!!

Then I'd better do a spot of tidying up in the hope that the Broadband engineer will be here tomorrow!

Hope you had a good Tuesday.

Lots of Love Arwedd xx

  1. Hi Arwedd, those meatballs look delicious - well done. I suspect those sausages originally spilt because of the high fat content. Glad to hear you have been out exercising. I substituted a cup of green tea for coffee & gradually took on more cups of tea than coffee - what a difference the change made to me in many ways. I now only have 1-2 coffees a day. On Tuesday we travelled to Dunedin to watch our son play hockey at an inter-school. A good day out!

    1. Thanks Sandra, I have been trying the green tea, but it has a really nasty aftertaste. I am persevering though, but my cup of coffee is now a treat.

My No. 1 Son is also very into his Hockey and is trying out for the Devon Games to Inspire next Tuesday night. Hopefully he will enjoy himself whether or not he is selected. Glad you had a great day out!

  2. Awww Helloooo I love that you tried them xx I suggested you bake them because of the fat. One thing I do is bake them on a rack above a tray. But I didn't want them to stick! ( I think you have had enough rack angst in your life this month! I love playing hide the veg in the meal to dupe the children!

The only coffee I drink is Kenco Decaff. It's a delicious cup sans la mal a la tete! I too have started to drink green tea - the Tetley with Lemon is lovely - and quite often on offer!

Still visit your blog every day ! Isn't blogworld simply wonderful xx

    1. You were right, enough of the rack angst for a while! Will try the green tea with Lemon as it may help with the nasty taste!

Blogworld has been good to me so far, I know some people have had their difficulties with it, but thankfully I haven't yet.

      Thanks for reading.
