Making a Splash!

Yes Folks, it's Tuesday night again and if you've read my Blog so far, you'll know Tuesday night is Aquafit night.
So I promised some photos of the maybe not so posh private public swimming pool.

This is the entrance to the lady's driveway.

The poolhouse is the roof to the right and you get to it through the arched gateway you can see in the joining wall.

Once you go through the gateway she has a lovely garden area and this is the poolhouse itself, set up on a patio area.

The pool is relatively small by leisure centre standards but it still manages to go very deep in the deep end. I only found out that there were lessons here because one of the Mums at Taekwondo told me. If I was the owner I'd be in this pool all day, but I suppose running swimming classes pays for it's upkeep.

This is my view from in the pool, during the class, minus the instructor as she was too shy to be in the shot! There have been as many as 7 people in the class, but normally it's 3-4 of us. Tonight, just myself and a young girl who is a Primary School teacher. One night it was just me and the teacher.

It is so hot and humid in here that it was warm enough to have the pool doors open tonight. However, that is the main reason why I can't get dry afterwards. You can see how steamy the windows are.

So was I brave enough to drive the 15 minutes home in my costume and dressing gown?

Oh YES I WAS!
Oh My Goodness, I've never done anything like that before. I must admit I did check I had enough petrol before I left tonight. I did pass a Police car and kept to every speed limit and made it back safely to my own front door!

What a Hoot!

While we're on the subject of water:-

It Never Rains, but It Pours

This is a photo from my back garden. The red brick house is mine and the pebbledashed house is next-door.

Now while I don't mind living so close to my nearest neighbours, there is supposed to be a divide between our gardens. During the high winds and rain on Sunday our fence blew down.

The rest of the fence behind the rabbit hutch and up is also broken although still standing. The cost we have been quoted today for these 7 fence panels to be replaced? £600. Oh boy! I'm still reeling. Still, the part for my oven arrived today, so hopefully that will be fixed tomorrow.
Broken fence panels at side of house.

Just dreading what's coming next. They do come in threes don't they?

Lots of Love Arwedd xx

  1. That's hilarious, you driving home sopping wet!
I'd love to do aquafit but our nearest pool (40 mins drive away) doesn't offer anything like that. The adult public swim is from 9-10pm. I wouldn't be home until 11pm, I'd probably fall asleep in the pool.

    1. My DH thought it was hilarious too!

You'll have to suggest they start a class.

  2. LOL - Glad you took a walk or should I say 'drive' on the wild side in your dressing gown! The pool looks lovely.
Boy that fence sounds real expensive to fix. If those are the panels leaning on the wall in the above photo, how about going to the DIY & buying your own (on special of course), and erecting it yourselves? Is DH &/or your neighbour handy? You could probably download a tutorial off the net if you have no idea where to start. Or do you have a handy mate or family memember who would give you a hand for a few beers or a meal/petrol voucher, or a BBQ tea?? If you do not have a trailer or the right tools, maybe some of your other neighbours would lend them to you & you could bake them a cake to say thanks. Good luck & maybe get another quote to keep everyone honest.

    1. Yeah we're thinking about what we can do, although I'm not sure one of my cakes would be a fair exchange yet!! Maybe when I've got a bit better at them, lol.

  3. What a lovely place to do aqua aerobics! You made me chuckle with the drive home, can't say I blame you though.

We have a gapping hole in one side where one panel has been damaged. But on the other side the neighbours dogs have ruined at least three panels! That does hack me off as its classed as our side.

    1. It's awful when someone doesn't take the care you would, not fair!

  4. Hi Honey, MW is repairing our fence himself - he says it's not to difficult. It's saved us £500 - well worth looking into...especially if neighbour won't have to share the cost...

  5. Lovely way to get fit. Like having a personal trainer. Wouldn't do for me though - terrified of water. Not washing you understand - just swimming/drowning etc

    1. I didn't learn until I met DH at 24yrs, I think because my Mum is also phobic. As long as you can cope with the shower, you'll be fine, Haha!
